We have been serving the Central Coast since 1955, and our longevity Is largely the result of having volunteers like you!

Requires completion of advancedanimal handling workshops Denotes areas of volunteer service that require the completion of our advanced animal handling workshops.  
 

Pet Visitations Volunteers

 
   

Objective: Provide shelter dogs for community visitations (nursing/retirement homes, and in-bound residents)

Duties: To help transport animals, handle an animal at the facility, and socialize with community groups we are visiting

Qualifications:

  1. Must be 18 years of age
  2. Must complete a Volunteer Application
  3. If driving to and from site, must have current license and proof of insurance

Training:

  1. Attend the Welcome Orientation
  2. Attend 1 Canine Enrichment Training Workshop
  3. Attend 1 Advanced Canine Training Workshop
  4. Attend Off-site Training Workshop
  5. Attend Pet Visitation Workshop

Commitment: 2 visitations per month

Supervision: Directly by the Volunteer/Outreach Coordinator

Requires completion of advancedanimal handling workshopsThis position requires a higher level of training, but the rewards and much needed reprieve for the animals makes this one of the most exciting and fulfilling volunteer positions.

Community Service Program

 

Woods Humane Society welcomes participants with both school and court requested community service hours to join us in helping to provide a premier level of care for the dogs and cats at Woods.

SLOVOAD - Lead Agency for large-scale disaster

Woods Humane Society is actively participating as a Lead Agency for SLOVOAD. In the event of a large-scale local disaster, Woods Humane Society will mobilize our resources to support displaced local pets.
