Welcome and thank you for your interest in Woods Humane Society and your desire to help the many homeless animals we care for each year. We are pleased that you have chosen to join our team. We have been serving the Central Coast since 1955, and our longevity Is largely the result of having volunteers like you!

Off-site Animal Handling Volunteers

Objective: To give the shelter animals a reprieve from the stressful shelter environment.

Duties: Take dogs off-site. Sites may include the beach, the park, or even your home for the night. Other opportunities might include taking the animals to our different outreach events.

Qualifications:

1. Must be 18 years of age
2. Must complete a Volunteer Application

Training:

1. Attend the Welcome Orientation
2. Attend 1 Canine Enrichment Workshop
3. Attend 1 Advanced Canine Enrichment Workshop
4. Attend the Off-Site Training Session

Commitment: Minimum of 6 hours a month for 6 months

Supervision: Direct supervision by the Behavior Associate and/or the Senior Animal Caregiver.

This position requires a higher level of training, but the rewards and much needed reprieve for the animals makes this one of the most exciting and fulfilling volunteer positions.

Volunteers under 16 years of age

Must have a parent/guardian present to volunteer

Community Service Program

Woods Humane Society welcomes participants with both school and court requested community service hours to join us in helping to provide a premier level of care for the dogs and cats at Woods.
