Looking to adopt just the right pet?

Pet Pal of the WeekDon’t see your loveable new companion animal in our Adoptable Pets section?

Another option for your pet search is to fill out one of our companion animal Matchmaker Forms. These questionnaires are a simple and easy way for our Adoption Specialists to contact you when an animal is brought into Woods that meets your criteria. You will then be the first to know about specific dogs or cats before they are released for public viewing. The matchmaker forms can be downloaded by clicking on the links below. One is for our Dog Form and the other is for our Cat Form. After you have printed out the form, please fill it out completely (the more information that you give us, the more likely we will be able to find your PERFECT MATCH) and return it to Woods Humane Society by mail, fax, or drop it by the shelter in person. All of our contact information can be found at the bottom of this page.

Please be advised:

  • Matchmaker Forms will be kept on file for 6 months
  • We do not accept Matchmaker Forms for puppies or kittens
  • You must be at least 18 years old to fill out the forms (if you are a child, please have your parent/guardian fill out and turn in the form with you)
  • Please understand that we here at Woods take our animal adoptions very seriously, in fact, they are our mission. We ask that you seriously consider every aspect and need that adopting a companion animal includes prior to turning in the matchmaker forms. The staff here at Woods will diligently review these forms and every animal at the shelter

Woods Humane Society, Inc. is a nonprofit, privately funded organization dedicated to the humane care of unwanted animals in San Luis Obispo County. Our Staff, volunteers, and board of directors are dedicated to upholding our Mission and preserving the welfare of our present and future animals.

While we cooperate with the State Humane Association of California, the American Humane Association, and The Humane Society of the United States, Woods does not receive financial support from them. Only 20% of our revenues to care for the animals are generated by service fees, the other 80% is generated from fund-raising events, grants, wills, and mainly community donations.

Woods Humane Society is proud to be a leader among the nation’s humane organizations. Thanks to loyal and broad-based community support, and the diligent efforts of our dedicated staff and volunteers, Woods placement rate in fiscal 07/08 was 94%, an outstanding achievement.

None of this work could be completed without the incredible support of our community and our wonderful volunteers.
